Wyland Oceanfront Gallery hosts a solo art exhibition for artist and surfer Danielle Zirkelbach from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday. She will be unveiling her latest originals and working on one in progress. She will also offer photo opportunities, autographs sessions and personal dedications.

Zirkelbach is considered by many in the art community as one of the most amazing new local talents to come along in decades.

“Danielle’s paintings remind me of what we might see in our dreams and each one tells an interesting story of her amazing life and aspirations. They exude her very unique surf and sea sensuality which graces the canvas with every stroke,” said Mark Hanna, owner of Wyland Oceanfront Gallery.

Zirkelbach, was born and raised in New Haven, Conn., where she became enamored with the ocean as a youth, traveling up and down the East Coast with her family. As a talented swimmer and athlete, she landed lifeguard jobs and became lieutenant of the Flagler Beach, Fla., Lifeguards Team for four years. There she worked several rescue jobs for the city while also teaching children how to swim and perform CPR. She then earned a soccer scholarship from Florida Southern College. She rode that scholarship to a bachelor’s degree in fine arts degree all the way to the beaches of Hawaii following her dream of surfing every day and being a full time artist.

Wyland Oceanfront Gallery is located on Alii Drive at Waterfront Row in Kailua-Kona.
